CREC events- COVID 19 update
Despite currently being unable to host in-person meetings and events at our office and training base in Birmingham, CREC remains open, operational and fully committed to enabling a robust learning and teaching environment for our current and prospective students, trainee teachers, tutors, and wider early years community.
Please find further information below regarding the activities and measures we have put in place to date. For the latest COVID-19 measures at CREC, please check this thread which is being updated weekly.
CREC Meetings and Events During COVID-19
MA in Education
Moodle is now the first point of call for all current MA Students and Tutors. The platform has been updated with relevant notices and resources to support distance learning. It has also been configured to host elements of the remaining taught sessions.
We are in communication with all our current students regarding their assignments and support has been put in place to enable them to complete and progress their studies as planned.
We are still hosting an MA 'Open Day' on Wednesday 6th May, which will now be an opportunity for one-to-one phone calls with the Programme Lead in lieu of the one-to-one in-person meetings. To register your interest, please click the link above.
We will also be hosting an additional virtual MA Q&A Event via Facebook on Thursday 14th May – if you are interested in finding out more about our MA, join us to have all your questions answered!
SCITT
We are also carrying on with our scheduled SCITT training days, now tailored for online delivery and virtual communications and collaborations, including hosting virtual taught sessions and discussions, sharing curated resources, and signposting to other relevant content.
We will be following the Department for Education guidelines regarding the award of QTS, as placements have been temporarily suspended due to the virus pandemic. Our students remain supported in evidencing their placements to date, as well as subsequent learning and reflections through their teaching standards folders.
We are also hosting a virtual SCITT Open Day event via Facebook, on Monday 11th May – if you are considering a career in teaching, particularly if you would like to work with young children, please join us to find out more about our training programme, partner schools, and meet the Programme Lead and some of the other tutors.
All our applicant interviews will be conducted virtually through the Zoom platform and a timed skills task will be set remotely via email. Where necessary, a third, practice-based reference can be sought to support a candidates application.
One-Day CPD Courses
All of the remaining one-day CPD days have been postponed until the next academic year. All colleagues who had already registered will be informed via email as soon as the new dates are available.
Learning Circle
We are hoping to continue our monthly community of practice discussions online. Please keep an eye on our dedicated Learning Circle page and/or look out for updates via the Learning Circle Group on Facebook.
If you have any queries or concerns regarding the above arrangements, or you have any suggestions/ideas about how we can better support you, please get in touch via email: enquiries@crec.co.uk or directly via your usual main point of contact.
