CREC is looking to employ one full-time administrator (or two part-time) to support its national and international work with responsibility for two key areas – academic journal admin and course admin.
The post(s) will be based in central Birmingham but with some flexibility on working from home. An annual salary of £28,000 FTE is offered plus generous holiday allowance and pension contributions.
Administrator (Academic Journal and Membership association) - 0.6 FTE
The European Early Childhood Education Research Journal (EECERJ) is the highly rated (SSCI) journal of EECERA. The journal, published 6 times/year, is administered from CREC.
The Administrator will support the production of this leading Early Years journal, facilitating its contribution to the scholarly output of the Association and helping maintain and grow its scientific status. Key tasks include processing manuscripts upon receipt; maintaining oversight of the review process and ensuring it advances in a timely fashion; maintaining communication between authors and the Co-ordinating Editor; liaising with publishing staff at Taylor & Francis; using ScholarOne to manage the submission and review processes and provide information to the journal's Co-ordinating Editor and Editorial Board, on journal content, readership, marketing, etc., and contribute to the production of reports thereon. The Administrator will also manage the membership services function for the Association through the website ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction for the c250 members.
Administrator (Postgraduate Courses) - 0.4 FTE
CREC runs an MA in Education (Early Years) and a SCITT based Initial Teacher Training course to an annual student cohort of c100-120 students. The academic elements of these courses are run in conjunction with Birmingham City University.
The Administrator will provide the course administration for the MA and SCITT programmes. Key tasks include processing and monitoring student applications, enrolments, grades, progressions and withdrawals/interruptions; maintaining communication between CREC, and key stakeholders; liaising with the Postgraduate Programme Lead to ensure compliance to QA processes; using online systems to ensure accuracy of records and student materials; supporting logistics of face-to-face and online delivery.
For this role, it is highly desirable that the post holder has a knowledge of Early Years and/or Education as well as experience in either academic publishing or academic course administrative support in a team context and working with large databases/systems which involve the tracking of projects/clients over time.
