Early Years Education as Political Activity: Access, Choice, Agency and Voice
Tuesday 13th February | The Studio Birmingham
We are delighted to invite early years practitioners, researchers, lecturers and students to attend and present research at our 14th Annual BECERA Conference.
Early Years Education is full of decisions and actions which might be considered highly political, demonstrably civic and deeply democratic. If politics is about a collective struggle to find agreement, then clearly: who has access to the debate; how voice and power is distributed; where choices lie; and what agency one has (to act out one’s own decisions), can all be considered ‘political activity’ and therefore key components of democracies.
Why attend?
Our conference provides a forum for the Early Childhood community - students, researchers and practitioners, to come together to network, present current and emerging research, and to discuss new concepts and challenges relevant to their study and work with young children and families.
Call for papers
Please send us your presentation proposals for an opportunity to share your concepts, theories and findings, and to further stimulate your thinking through questions from and discussions with fellow delegates.
The deadline for proposal submission is Monday 8th January 2024 please. Please note however paper abstracts will be reviewed as and when received and we reserve the right to close the call for papers early if we reach capacity.
Accepted papers will be clustered into groups and presented in chaired symposia sessions.
Why present?
Presenting your research provides a critical peer review; it is a great way to get necessary feedback to improve, develop or validate your piece of work. All submitted abstracts are reviewed by members of our scientific committee who not only screen for the quality of your research but also provide helpful notes to improve your abstract writing.
