Help us save our state funded nursery schools!
We NEED YOUR HELP!
The government is proposing drastic funding cuts for all state run Nursery Schools across the country from 2019. This will mean that 400 state Nursery Schools will no longer be able to exist in their current form.
Simply put, by 2019 nursery schools across the country will no longer exist.
On behalf of the Save Nursery Schools Campaign we urge you to help us stop this from happening!
Why SAVE Nursery Schools?
"Maintained Nursery Schools are local authority funded schools, with a headteacher and qualified teachers leading a team of specialist early years practitioners. They provide education for 3-4-year-olds (and increasingly for 2-year-olds). They are few in number - just over 400 remain in England – but represent a unique reservoir of early years expertise. 97% of them are rated good or outstanding by Ofsted, a standard not matched by any other part of the education sector." - Maintained nursery schools: the state of play report
- 99% of nursery schools are rated good or outstanding
- 65% are in our most disadvantaged areas – giving our most vulnerable under fives the best start possible
- Nursery schools employ qualified teachers and staff who provide the highest quality early years education and help other educators improve their practice too
- Nursery schools train new teachers so that early years expertise grows locally and nationally – improving the whole sector
Imagine the government wanted to close the 400 best performing schools in the country?! Well, that's what they're proposing to do to early years education!
