Professor Chris Pascal has been appointed Extraordinary Professor by the North-West University, South Africa.

Our Director’s new post has been set up at the Community-Based Educational Research (COMBER), “a partnership of students and community members who collaboratively engage in research with the purpose of solving a pressing educational problem to generate knowledge, skills and processes that will enhance sustainable learning and development.”

Chris’ role will be to participate actively in the training of undergraduate and, in particular, postgraduate students, who plan to or conduct their investigations using action research, She said: “I am delighted to have been offered this appointment and look forward to developing our Partnership with colleagues at NWU. We share a strong belief in practice based evidence and community based action research which we will build on with collaborative projects and student support.”

Back in May, Prof. Chris Pascal and Prof. Tony Bertram visited the University to support development of an Early Childhood Development research centre, project plan and deliver lectures. They also visited local pre-schools. The partnership continues to develop and the new appointment will further facilitate this international collaboration.
